[Turn Three] [Turn Four] [Rally] [Turn Five]

SPECIAL NOTE: As of 12.7.11 all rules in this example that use d20 have been converted to d6. As time becomes available I will do another demo battle using all d6.

INTRODUCTION

This demo battle pits two new Warlords in their first battle. This game was played out solo by myself, the author and is presented here for the most part play by play. The game lasted about one and a half hours.

AUTHORS NOTE: My table top is a hex cloth from Hotz Matts but the game is played in inches so ignore the hex table top if you can.

Sir Otto
Feudal German Domain - Baron (social rank 3, esteem 2)
Chivalric motivation
Initiative 1-13, Combat Bonus +1, Morale Bonus +1, Personal Combat 1-15

Sir Otto

His Army
Otto has 20 army points to build his army from. This when divided by three nets him 7 units. The feudal German lance makeup is 1/3 mounted, 1/3 foot and 1/3 missile. This leaves him with one random unit to roll for, he rolls a foot unit. He now rolls 1d6 for each unit on the domain list for the unit types.

For mounted he rolls 1 knight (close order, heavy armor, poor morale, may fight in wedge), 1 border horse (open, light, skirmish weapons).

For foot he rolls 1 spear (close, medium, poor, trained), 1 spear (close, medium, poor), 1 pike (town militia, close, medium, poor, trained).

For Missile he rolls 1 crossbow (loose, medium, poor, may us pavise as a promotion), 1 short bow, (loose, medium, poor).

Retinue
Otto has 1 retinue unit. This is determined by his social rank, divided by three. He chooses another pike (town militia).

Mercenary Troops
Otto can choose to make two of his units mercenaries. This is based on his social rank minus the number of retainer units. This nets him 2. He decides on a defensive army and upgrades both of his pike (town militia) units to mercenary.

Promotions
Otto is allowed 3 promotions which equal his social rank. He may also give each mercenary unit a free promotion as well. He chooses to promote the mercenaries to heavy armor. He promotes his knight from poor to average, and the pikes (town militia) from poor to average.

Leaders and Heroes

A Warlord (that's you) is allowed to have additional Personalities in his army. The number and quality is based on your Warlord's social rank. One is deducted from his social rank and the remaining value may be used to create additional personalities. See the rules for more details.

Otto chooses a Hero, sir Percy (social rank 2) to aid him and command his knights.

Sir Percy

Otto is ready for his Day of Battle.
